The Kursk Garrison Military Court has sentenced serviceman Stanislav Lopatin under Article 356.1 of the Russian Criminal Code, which pertains to looting. Details about the charges and the sentence remain undisclosed, as reported by Mediazona on January 23.

On January 15, the court in Kursk delivered its verdict in Stanislav Lopatin's case, which involved criminal charges of looting. Both Lopatin’s lawyer and the court’s press service declined to answer Mediazona's inquiries.

The case was submitted to the court in November 2024. The January 15 sentence marks the first known court ruling involving looting charges against a Russian serviceman.

In September 2024, evacuees from the Korenevsky District wrote a collective letter reporting thefts from shops, gas stations, and homes in areas "where there were no Ukrainian soldiers." In November, Pavel Zolotarev, head of the Glushkovsky District, confirmed incidents of looting and stated that military police had detained "several individuals found with weapons and property that did not belong to them."

In December, Elena Gridina, head of the Korenevo Village Council in the Korenevsky District, requested Acting Governor of Kursk Oblast Alexander Khinshtein to compensate residents for damages caused by looters.
