Authorities in Tyumen Oblast say they have expanded the network of mobile water distribution points in response to flooding. On the orders of Governor Alexander Moor, more than 230 distribution points have been opened across Tyumen and the surrounding Tyumen District, with additional water trucks and repurposed vehicles brought into service. Officials insist the situation is under control.

Residents, however, continue to complain about the quality of the water. They say tap water still has a yellowish tint and smells strongly of chemicals and chlorine. Although the water delivered by truck is cleaner, it also has an unusual smell and taste. Local journalists compared water from three tanker trucks with tap water and concluded that while the trucked-in water is cleaner, it does not fully solve the problem.

Margarita, a resident of Tyumen, told 7x7 that there are no queues for water in her neighborhood, but tap water is still unfit for drinking.

"The smell is unbearable, mixed with chlorine. We have to buy drinking water," she explained.

Another resident, Elena from the Vostochny District, noted that the free water can only be used for household needs.

"The water stinks for everyone living on the right bank of the Tura River. We have to buy clean drinking water. The 'smartest' shop owners are driving up prices. We're getting by as best we can," she said.

🔶Residents of Tyumen began reporting widespread problems with tap water quality in mid-July. They complained of a strong smell of naphthalene and river sludge, while dead fish were found along the banks of the Tura River. Rosvodokanal attributed the deterioration in water quality to flooding and said the river's water quality indicators had reached their worst levels since records began.
