The Astrakhan Oblast Duma revoked the mandate of deputy Oleg Shein, who had previously been designated as a foreign agent, TASS reported on December 5.
Oleg Shein was stripped of his powers ahead of schedule.
The Ministry of Justice recognized Shein as a foreign agent on November 22. Shortly after, he was expelled from the Just Russia party, which claimed that his public statements had been "at odds with the party’s activities" since 2022.
Shein’s colleagues had called for his expulsion from the party as early as the summer of 2023 due to his refusal to openly endorse the war in Ukraine.
There are no active deputies with foreign agent status remaining in Russia. Before Shein’s designation, the last deputy with such status was Nikolay Kuzmin from Pskov Oblast, whose mandate was revoked in November.
