Independent publishing house Rabbits and Books is considering pulling out of online marketplaces, a move that would effectively amount to bankruptcy, its founder Anton Kozlov said on August 24.
According to Anton Kozlov, Rabbits and Books stopped working with Wildberries after 813 of its books were destroyed in a fire at a warehouse in Koledino, Moscow Oblast. Following the start of attacks on Ozon warehouses, the publishing house may pull out of that platform as well.
“We have absolutely no idea what to do. Wildberries won't compensate us for anything and only sends us boilerplate responses. <…>Thank you for being with us. I don't know how much longer we'll be with you, because we've already received offers to buy the publishing house outright,” Kozlov said.
By mid-August, at least 23 Wildberries warehouses across 16 regions had been hit by drone attacks, with losses to sellers estimated at 280 billion rubles. More than 11 million books were among the goods destroyed in fires at the warehouses. Since August 22, Ukraine has also attacked five Ozon warehouses.
