A group of activists in Perm has submitted a notification to the city administration about a rally planned for August 19, the birthday of political prisoner Arseny Turbin from Oryol, Rassvet Perm reported.

The activists plan to call for a fair review of Arseny Turbin's case and speak out against the growing number of teenagers being sentenced in politically motivated cases.

In 2024, 15-year-old Arseny Turbin was sentenced to five years in a penal colony for participating in the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of Russia's Criminal Code) after attempting to contact the Freedom of Russia Legion. While serving his sentence in a penal colony in Perm Krai, he was charged in a criminal case over mass riots.

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 415 Russian teenagers have faced criminal prosecution in politically motivated cases. The number of new cases against minors has increased every year.
